PET PHOTO CONTEST #070
1. Eligibility: This contest is open to legal U.S. residents 18 years of age or older at time of entry. Employees and immediate family members of, the sponsor, The Reader’s Digest Association, Inc (the Publisher of Every Day with Rachael Ray), or its affiliated or subsidiary companies are not eligible to participate. Contest is governed by laws of the USA. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited by law.
2. How To Enter: Contest begins on November 17, 2009 and ends on January 12, 2010. All entries must be received by 12:00 pm Eastern Time on January 12, 2010. To enter visit http://talk.rachaelraymag.com/photos/g/your-best-pet-photo-contest/default.aspx and follow the instructions. Entries submitted in geographic areas in which the entry is not permissible will be disqualified. If entries do not contain all necessary information, entrant will be disqualified. Please be certain to follow all directions.
Electronic photos must be 300 dpi at a minimum size of 3 x 5 inches (900 x 1,500 pixels). We recommend using a 3.2 megapixel camera (at minimum) set at its highest quality. Digital photos must meet these resolution requirements, necessary for publication. Instructions regarding how to upload the photo are provided at http://talk.rachaelraymag.com/forums/t/10146.aspx. Photos which are not viewable for any reason will be rejected.
The Submission must be the original work of entrant and not previously published. Submission must not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity. All entries become the property of Every Day with Rachael Ray and will not be returned. Winners will be required to grant to Every Day with Rachael Ray all rights, titles and interest in the submitted entry. We reserve the right to use any/ all entry(ies) in all print and electronic media, and to edit it for brevity and clarity. By entering this contest entrant specifically agrees that his/her photo may be posted on the RachaelRaymag.com website and is subject to terms listed in the Terms of Use, www.rachaelraymag.com/help/terms-of-use.
3. Judging: Post pet photograph(s). One Grand Prize winner and 10 runners up will be selected. The Grand Prize winner of the Contest will be determined by judging all the entrants’ submissions based on the following criteria: presentation 50%, adherence to the contest theme 25%, and originality 25%. All entries will be judged using the criteria stated above. All judging will be accomplished by a panel of Every Day with Rachael Ray editors. The entrant with the highest score will be the winner. The 10 first-prize winners will be determined by users on RachaelRaymag.com: Registered users will be asked to view all entries and rate their favorites using a star system based on the criteria stated above. The 10 most popular entries with the highest starred ratings (other than the entry selected by the judges as the Grand Prize winner) will be the first-prize winners. User accounts are free. Users may rate each photo only once per user account. In the event of a tie for one or more of the first-prize spots, the entry with the highest total photo views will be the winner. In the event of another tie for a first-prize spot, the judge’s decision is determinative. Each entrant is only eligible to receive one prize, so if one entrant has more than one entry in the top 10, or is selected as the Grand Prize Winner, a first-prize will be awarded to the next highest entrant’s photo.
Decision of the judges is final and binding on all matters relating to this contest. Voting will take place between November 17, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. and January 12, 2010 at 12:00 p.m.
4. Prizes: The Grand Prize winner may have his/her photo published in an upcoming issue of Every Day with Rachael Ray and will receive a Pentax K-x Digital SLR camera valued at $649.95. The 10 runners up will each win a Kodak EasyShare W1020 Wireless Digital Photo Frame with Home Décor Kit, each valued at $195.46.
5. Selection of Winner: Winners will be selected on or about January 26, 2010 and notified by e-mail within 30 days of selection and may be required to execute a Statement of Eligibility and Release within 30 days of prize notification attempt or Winner will be disqualified and prize may be awarded to an alternate winner. Return of prize or prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected. Entry and/or acceptance of prize(s) constitutes permission for the Sponsors and their agencies (if any) to use the winner’s name, address (city and state) and/or likeness for advertising and trade purposes without further compensation or authorization, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media, now known and hereafter devised, unless prohibited by law.
6. Conditions: Sponsor is not liable for any technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer internet system, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading/uploading any materials in this Contest, or other technical difficulties or failures or other errors of any kind. Sponsor is not responsible or liable for any injury or damage to an entrant’s or third person’s computer and/or its contents, related to or resulting from Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to terminate or modify the Contest at any time for any reason. In such a circumstance, Grand Prize winner will be selected based on entries received to date of termination. In the event that two similar entries are received, only the entry judged to best meet criteria as set by Reader’s Digest will be included in the final judging. Entrants agree to indemnify Reader’s Digest, their affiliated and subsidiary companies from and against any and all claims and liabilities arising out of or in connection with this Contest. Any dispute regarding submission of online entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an internet access provider, online service provider, or other organizations (e.g. business, educational institute) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the operation of the website or the entry process.
7. The total number of contestants anticipated nationwide is estimated to be but not limited to 3,000.
8. HI nbane -- when you are looking at a photo, click on the number of stars you'd like to give it, from 1 being the lowest and 5 the highest. You can only vote on each photo once, but you can vote on as many photos as you like.

Why are some of my photos showing up and some of them not? I noticed some other entrats are having the same problem. Is it alright to try and re-enter that photograph? Will I be disqualified? Thanks!!

I downloaded 2 pictures and they showed up in the preview but when I check them, there is no picture. Dont know about one of them but one says it has been viewed 6 times, but pic doesnt appear.
What did I do wrong and can I edit it?

I am not able to find the stars you are talking about to be able to vote?
Hi sueq - sorry you're having troubles! When you click on a photo, you should see 5 stars to the right, underneath the photo's title and date. If no one's voted yet, they'll be white. If someone has voted, some will be yellow. Hope you find them and have fun voting!
