&lt;p&gt;Also, the vacuum food storage systems are an initial outlay of significant funds, but in the long run, they can save you so much money by preventing waste -- get canisters, and you can store celery, radishes, onions, fruit -- whatever -- 5 to 6 times as long (my own estimate) than they would last otherwise. &amp;nbsp;It also makes it easier for you to buy meat in bulk on sale and package it for the freezer for longer-term storage than the store packaging allows. &lt;/p&gt;
